About April
April leverages her unique experience in higher education, civil rights, and civic engagement to identify senior engineering, product, design, trust and safety, and IT talent who technically and culturally align with high-growth and public companies.
Her passions include pure-player and brick-and-click e-retailers, hybrid and integrated marketplaces, and digital transformation. She routinely executes searches end-to-end in under 80 days, earning perfect client and candidate delight scores.
April has a proven track record of success, having closed for corporate, private equity, and venture capital clients, including BrainPOP, Clari, Fusable, Hershey, Podium, Scribbles Software, Spreedly, Storable, Tempo, Uplevel, and Whatnot. Her most notable achievement was helping to place the first-ever technologist reporting directly to the CEO of Nike, a role crucial for spearheading the company’s global digital transformation. The feedback from the team was overwhelmingly positive, describing it as ‘one of the most fun and painless searches with the highest caliber of talent that we’ve had in 6 years, and we do a lot of searches!’
April comes to executive search after shaping campus and intellectual life at Columbia, Emory, and Harvard Universities, serving on the senior staff of the NAACP, and encouraging civic participation as president of Civic Frame, Inc. A proud graduate of Baltimore City College, she holds degrees from Kenyon College in Islamic Studies and Columbia and Harvard Universities in Multicultural Affairs and African American Religious History, respectively.
She is an avid fan of lacrosse, basketball (Wizards & Mystics), baseball (Orioles), soccer (Spirit), tennis, golf, hockey (Capitals), and football (Ravens), enjoys live music performances, and practices Vipassanā and Joe Dispenza meditation techniques, Y6 Hot yoga, Usui Reiki (Master), and impeccable minimalism sans plants and vinyl.
